School Cook

Location: Meath School & Specialist Centre, Brox Road, Ottershaw, Surrey, KT16 0LF

Contract: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours a week), Term time plus 2 weeks (41 weeks per year)

Salary: £19,441.29 - £20,425.34 (£10.26 - £10.78 per hour) depending on experience.
(FTE salary = £21,337 - £22,417)

I CAN’s Meath School is a consistently outstanding special school committed to the highest quality integrated education, therapy and care. Meath is a non-maintained day and residential school for pupils aged between 4 – 11 years, who have severe and complex speech, language and communication difficulties together with other learning and/or behavioural difficulties. Working collaboratively as part of strong and supportive multi-disciplinary team of teachers, therapists, learning support assistants and care officers we create stimulating learning environments, where all pupils are enabled to communicate as effectively as possible, individuals are valued and achievement is celebrated.

We are looking for a committed, creative chef to be responsible for coordinating the catering arrangements for children and staff at Meath School.  You will be responsible for all aspects of running the school kitchen and be required to provide high quality varied menus for the children, staff and visitors to quality, time, and budget requirements.  You will be supported by the Kitchen Assistant to ensure food hygiene requirements are adhered to.

We are keen to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of cooking for large groups of people or in a school environment
  • Knowledge of environment health record keeping requirements
  • Experience of preparing meals for those with special dietary needs
  • Experience of working with children
  • The ability to work independently
