School Assessment Centre Manager

Location - Meath School, Ottershaw (near Woking), Surrey

Contract - Part time (3 days a week), permanent, term time plus 3 weeks

Salary - £26,456.40 - £27,795.60 (FTE: £44,094 - £46,326)

I CAN is the UK’s leading children’s speech and language charity. Our Surrey school  is looking for a passionate leader to join our School Assessment Service in what is an exciting stage in its development. You will have significant specialist experience in supporting children with a range of SEND, particularly those with speech or language disorders, in a primary school setting.

I CAN’s assessment service (at the Bill Harrison suite) offers multi-disciplinary assessments for children and young people aged 4 – 19 with a range of speech, language and communication needs. The service is offered by a multi-disciplinary team including specialist teachers, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists contributing to assessments and determining the best options for the child, including a potential place in our school.

This is a really exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Specialist Teacher or Therapist to run our highly impactful, multi-disciplinary team to assess the educational needs of children with SEND and advise families on the appropriate provisions.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide leadership to the school, managing and developing the service to local authorities, multi-academy trusts and other commissioning authorities, as well as families, ensuring good lines of communication.
  • Ensure that the centre operates a high-quality service with insightful recommendations and high-quality reports.
  • Work with the school and I CAN’s marketing team to promote the service and increase its reach and manage any additional funding projects with support.
  • Regularly review assessment tools to ensure the most up-to-date, evidence informed tools are utilised.
