I CAN the children’s communication charity is actively seeking Trustees due to a number of their current Board members reaching the end of their tenure.
As experts in helping children develop the speech, language and communication skills they need to thrive in the 21st Century, the charity offer a number of programmes and services throughout the UK offering support to parents, children and practitioners as well as operating two Ofsted Outstanding specialist schools supporting children with severe and complex communication needs.
I CAN is currently seeking the following Trustees:
Chair of Trustees – After nine successful years, the Chair of Trustees will soon step down. We’re looking for a high-calibre individual to build on his achievements, lead the Board and work with the Chief Executive to drive the organisation forward into the next phase of the strategy, whilst ensuring that that the charity fulfils their charitable obligations and continues to ensure strong governance. An outward facing spokesperson for the charity you will possess excellent networking and stakeholder management skills and be a credible figurehead.
Philanthropy Trustee – a highly influential networker, you will be invested in helping the charity to build relationships and make the ask for significant donations and help to manage donor stewardship whilst providing mentoring and guidance to the Philanthropy team.
Digital Trustee – an IT expert who can help the charity with their desire to build a digital strategy which will look at social media, digital marketing, website interaction and developing future technology services to help support their aims.
Legal Trustee – ideally either an employment lawyer or a commercial contracts lawyer you will undertake a lead role for the Board of Trustees on all matters associated with the legal aspects of the organisation.
Finance Trustee – a qualified Accountant with an understanding and experience of Charity SORP, you will lead the Board’s duty to ensure proper accounting records are kept and financial resources are controlled in line with governance, legal and regulatory requirements.
Chair of Governors for Meath School in Surrey (also a Trustee on the Board of I CAN) - we are looking for someone who has senior professional and leadership experience who can support the vision and ethos of the School; working with both governors and the School to contribute to the on-going success. We are seeking interest from candidates who are ambitious for every child and have a commitment to education, ideally located within an hour’s drive of Ottershaw, Surrey.
All Trustees have a duty to ensure that the charity is well run, solvent, legally compliant, and working towards I CAN’s charitable purpose for which it was established and Trustee roles are an important and a highly rewarding way to support an organisation. Please note that Trustee roles are unremunerated voluntary positions, although reasonable travel expenses will be paid.
