I CAN’s Bill Harrison Assessment Suite is an independent assessment service based on the site of Meath School. The multi-disciplinary team includes specialist teachers, speech and language therapists, an occupational therapist and an educational psychologist. This is an exciting time for the assessment service which is expanding its’ service offer over the next 2 years.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Educational Psychologist who enjoys working as part of a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team to assess the educational needs of children with SEND.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a great professional community and the opportunity to support children and their families in understanding their needs and accessing the relevant educational support.

The assessment centre has two well stocked playrooms and dedicated office space. The team benefit from administrative and clerical support as well as time from an intern (usually a psychology or linguistics student).

The assessment centre is open term time only.

You must hold a Psychology degree (or BPS equivalent); professional qualification in Educational Psychologist (doctorate, masters or equivalent); and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

I CAN’s Meath school is a three times outstanding special school committed to the highest quality integrated education, therapy and care. It is a non-maintained day and residential school for pupils aged between 4 – 11 years, who have severe and complex speech, language and communication difficulties together with other learning and/or behavioural difficulties. Working collaboratively as part of strong and supportive multi-disciplinary team of teachers, therapists, learning support assistants and care officers we create stimulating learning environments, where all pupils are enabled to communicate as effectively as possible, individuals are valued and achievement is celebrated.

I CAN is the children’s communication charity and our vision is a world where all children have the communication skills they need to fulfil their potential. We design programmes to help children catch up with speaking and understanding language. We train teachers to adapt their practice for children with long-term difficulties. We run two outstanding schools for children with the biggest barriers to communication. We also support families to develop their children’s speaking and understanding, and we push for government policy change.
